O quadro de refeições passo-a-passo | The eat sheet tutorial

Pediram-me para explicar como tinha feito o quadro onde escrevo as refeições cá de casa. Por isso, aqui vai!

I was asked to explain how I had done the eat sheet board where I write the meals. So, there it goes!

Aqui está o que vai precisar: 

- Um quadro (eu escolhi daqueles sem aro que se compram nos hipermercados, mas serve qualquer outro)

- Um rolo de papel de embrulho (ou uma folha de papel com um motivo à escolha)

- Uma folha de papel mais grosso, para fazer a "moldura" à volta da folha da ementa, com um motivo contrastante do anterior

- Régua, x-acto, lápis e tábua de corte

- A impressão da folha da ementa, daqui

What you'll need:

- A picture frame (I chose a rimless one that I bought in a supermarket, but any kind will do)

- A rol of wrapping paper (or any kind of paper that you like)

- A thicker paper for the eat sheet "frame", contrasting with the first one

- Ruler, x-acto knife, pencil and something to cut on

- the eat sheet printed from here

Abra o quadro e tire uma parte que sirva de molde para cortar a folha que será o fundo.

Open the picture frame to use a part of it for the mold to cut the background paper.

Use a régua para ajudar a traçar linhas direitas com a medida certa do papel de fundo.

Use the ruler to help drawing lines with the correct measure of the background paper.

Depois de traçadas as linhas, com o lápis, corte com o x-acto.

After drawing the lines, with pencil, cut with the x-acto knife.

Ponha o papel cortado dentro do quadro, para mante-lo direito, enquanto cortamos a "moldura" da folha da ementa.

Put the paper that you cut inside the picture frame so that it's plain, while cutting the eat sheet "frame".

Usando a régua, o lápis e a tábua de corte, marque 1,5 cm do limite da folha e trace linhas. Eu aproveitei o canto cortado desta folha, e fiz dois cantos para emoldurar a folha da ementa. Mas caso tenha a folha nova, corte tiras de 1,5 cm para dispor em redor da folha de ementa que imprimiu.

Using the ruler, the pencil and the cutting board, draw lines of 1,5 cm from the border sheet. I used the already cutted corner of this sheet, and made two corners for "framing" my eat sheet. But if you have a brand new sheet, cut 1,5 cm strips to line around your printed eat sheet. 

Corte as tiras. No meu caso, cortei os cantos.

Cut the strips. In this case, I cut the corners.

Agora estamos prontos para fazer a montagem. Comece por retirar o vidro do quadro.

And now we're ready to put everything together. Start by taking off the glass from the picture frame.

Em primeiro lugar temos que centrar a folha da ementa.

Meça a altura das duas folhas (a folha da ementa e a folha do fundo). Subtraia uma da outra e divida o resultado por dois. Este último resultado será a medida que fica em volta da folha menor (a folha da ementa), no sentido da altura.

No meu caso a folha da ementa, na altura, mede 29,7cm e a folha do fundo mede 42,2 cm. Subraindo dá 12,5 cm. Dividindo ao meio dá 6,25 cm. Marco 6,25 cm do limite da folha maior (tanto em baixo, como em cima), em direcção ao centro, para deixar a margem à vista e a folha centrada. 

Faça o mesmo processo para a largura. Marque estes limites a lápis, muito fininho (só servirão de guia para termos a folha direita).

First of all we have to put the eat sheet in the middle of everything.

Measure the height of the two sheets (the eat sheet and the background sheet). Subtract one from another and divide the result by two. This last result is the measure that stays around the eat sheet, in height direction.

In my case the eat sheet, in height direction, measures 29.7 cm and the background sheet measures 42.2 cm. Subtracting is 12.5 cm. Dividing by two is 6.25 cm. Mark 6.25 cm from the boundary of the larger sheet towards the center (bottom and top), to center the eat sheet.

Do the same for the width. Mark these limits with a pencil, very thin (only serve as a guide to have the eat sheet centered).

Use essa linha que traçou para colocar, no sítio certo, a "moldura" da folha da ementa. Use cola normal (pouca) para fixar a "moldura".

Use the line marked before to put in the wright place the eat sheet "frame". If necessary, use normal glue (only few) to pin the "frame".

Dentro da "moldura" coloque a folha da ementa. Cole com fita cola dupla, se achar necessário. Coloque o vidro por cima e está pronto! 

Escreva, no vidro, com caneta de acetato. Sai facilmente com um pano embebido em água.

Put the eat sheet inside the "frame". Pin with double adhesive tape if necessary. Put the glass in place and that's done!

Write, in the glass, with acetate pen. Comes off easily with a cloth soaked in water.

Mais um presente | Another birthday present

Este, foi o avental que fiz para oferecer, depois de ter a primeira experiência com aventais. Gosto de os fazer. É divertido e relativamente rápido. Também gostei muito do resultado desta conjugação animada de cores.

This, was the apron that I made to offer, after my first experience with aprons. I enjoy making them. It’s fun and quite quick. I also enjoyed how this one turned out, with the cheerful colors together.

Sair com os bebés | Take babys for a walk

Foi quando nasceu o meu bebé que percebi o que me fazia falta quando saía à rua com ele. Ter um sítio onde colocar tudo o que diz respeito ao bebé é importante, para saber onde está o essencial, e para ter as coisas à mão, sem ter que olhar para dentro da mala. O porta fraldas foi um desses acessórios. Podia ser uma bolsa qualquer, claro - mas não tinha metade da piada... Neste porta fraldas cabem cinco fraldas e as toalhitas de viagem, e tem um tamanho certo para uma marca específica do mercado, que é ligeiramente maior que a maioria! Entretanto, já fiz para oferecer uns porta fraldas onde cabem três fraldas (das de tamanho mais usual) e as toalhitas de viagem - acho que é o tamanho ideal!

When my baby was born I realized what I need when going out with him. Having a place to put all that concerns to the baby is important to know where the essential is, and to have things on hand, without having to look inside the suitcase. The diaper case was one of this accessories. It could be any case, of course - but wasn't so pretty ... In this diaper case fits five diapers and a bag of travel wipes, and has a right size for a specific brand in the market, which is slightly larger than most! However, I have done diaper cases to my friends babys, where fit three diapers (the most common size) and a bag of travel wipes - I think it's the right size!

Quadros com tecido | Fabric Canvas

Voltei de umas curtas e deliciosas férias! Agora, é mãos ao trabalho para abrir a "loja" o mais depressa possível!

I'm back from a short and delicious vacation. Now, I've got to restart working on my "store" so I can open it quickly!

É muito fácil fazer e permite ter uma decoração nova sempre que nos apetecer e por pouco dinheiro. Basta comprar umas telas prontas para pintar, uns tecidos resistentes e ter um agrafador de parede. Depois é agrafar o tecido à madeira da tela, na parte posterior e já está! Telas novas. Podemos fazer com tecido para bebé (para o quarto dos mais pequenos), com motivos de cozinha (para a cozinha) ou com os motivos que mais gostarmos para pôr onde nos apetecer!

It's really easy and it allows you to have a new decoration whenever we fell like and not spending much. You just have to by some canvas, resistent fabric and have a wall stapler. Then, just staple the fabric to the back side of canvas, and that's it! New canvas. We can do this for a baby room with baby fabric or for kitchen or for any part of the house!

O primeiro avental | The first apron

Há um tempo atrás comprei alguns tecidos para forrar telas e fazer uma combinação de padrões para pendurar na parede da sala (depois faço um post com as ditas!). Comprei tecidos a mais, porque não sabia muito bem como iam resultar entre eles. Sobrou este cinzento. Eu gosto muito dele, e quis que ele tivesse um uso qualquer. Acabou convertido num avental, daqueles que dão para qualquer pessoa, porque tem a fita móvel. Fi-lo a partir de um molde de outro avental que tinha em casa, e ficou muito comprido. Entretanto já ajustei o molde e encontrei o tamanho certo! Mas este tem uma conjugação de tecidos muito bonita.

A while ago I bought some fabric to cover canvas in order to have a pattern combination hanging on the living room wall (I will make a post about them). I bought extra fabric, because I didn't knew how the fabrics would result together. I didn't get to use this grey fabric and I like it a lot, so I wanted to do something with it. Ended up converted into a apron that can be used by anyone, because it has an adjustable tape. I made it from another apron that I had at home, but it resulted too long. However, already adjusted the pattern and found the right size! But this is a beautiful combination of fabrics.

Organizadores de casa | Home organizer

Sou eu que organizo tudo cá em casa: que limpo, que passo, que vou às compras, que organizo as refeições... Tenho "mapas" que me ajudam a coordenar as tarefas domésticas com o trabalho, para conseguir fazer tudo o que há para fazer. Fiz o download daqui de alguns desses "mapas organizadores" e naquele que se refere às refeições, decidi fazer dele um quadro para escrever todas as semanas - uso caneta de acetato que sai lindamente no vidro! Tem uma coluna onde escrevemos as refeições e outra para escrever a lista das compras. É muito útil e convida à restante família a participar na elaboração do menu semanal.

Já consigo imaginar o meu filho, daqui a alguns anos a escrever todos os dias: pizza, pizza, pizza, pizza, pizza...

I'm the one that organize everything here at home: clean, iron, go shopping, organize meals ... I have "maps" that help me to coordinate work with housekeeping, to do everything that has to be done. I downloaded, from here, some of these "organizer maps" and in what regard to meals, I decided to frame the "Eat sheet" to write every week - I use acetate pen that comes out from glass easily! There's a column to write the meals and another one to write the shopping list. It is very helpful and invites the rest of the family to participate in drawing up the weekly menu. I can already see my son, in a few years, writing everyday: pizza, pizza, pizza, pizza, pizza ...

Pijama | Pajamas

Enquanto o Quilt aguarda por uma oportunidade de ser continuado, o tempo (meio-frio, meio-quente, meio-nem-sabemos-o-que-vestir-aos-miúdos) pediu umas calças de pijama que servem para usar, quer a dormir, quer a brincar em casa. São frescas, mas ao mesmo tempo, não tão frescas como os calções. Usei o molde dos calções, e acrescentei-lhes perna. Reutilizei, mais uma vez, a roupa do pai - umas camisas que estavam de parte, foram reconvertidas nestas calças muito confortáveis - com direito a bolso atrás e tudo!!!

While the Quilt is waiting for an opportunity to be continued, the portuguese weather (half-cold, half-hot, half-don't-know-what-to-wear-on-kids) asked for pajamas pants, very good to wear while sleeping or playing at home. They're fresh, but at the same time not so cool as shorts. I used the same pattern that I used for shorts, and added legs. Reused, once again, dad's clothes - some shirts that were puted asside, have been converted to these very comfortable pants - notice that they have a back pocket, that the shirt had in front!

Trabalho em curso | Work in progress

Estou a tentar fazer um Quilt! Digo tentar, porque como é o meu primeiro Quilt, e não está a ser feito com os utensílios devidos, está a sair menos perfeito. Mas está a ser um meio de aprendizagem perfeito. Estou a ficar muito satisfeita com o resultado desta experiência, não tanto com o resultado do Quilt em si... Como já li em muitos sítios, é mesmo essencial ter as ferramentas necessárias, para conseguir um bom resultado. E vou adquiri-las, porque estou a adorar a experiência!

I'm trying to make a Quilt! It's just a trying, because as it is my first Quilt, and is not being done with the proper utensils, is coming out a bit imperfect. But is being a perfect way to learn. I'm getting very satisfied with the result of this experience, not so much with the result of the Quilt itself ... As I read in many places, it is essential to have the necessary tools to achieve a good result. And I'm going to get them because I'm loving this experience!

Trava porta | Door Stop

Para segurar as portas que teimam em não se manterem abertas, como as queremos... Moro nesta casa há 5 anos, e durante este tempo todo, tinha uma qualquer mobília a travar a porta. Mais uma vez, a máquina de costura deu frutos e saiu um mocho! O meu filho adora-o, o que significa que a porta continua, muitas vezes, fechada, por falta do "travão".

To hold the doors that insist on stay closed, despite what we would like... I live in this house for 5 years, and during all this time, I had some furniture to help stop the door. Again, the sewing machine worked and produced an owl! My son loves it, which means that the door is, often enough, still closed by the door stop missing.
